Paris equities finished the session in positive territory on Monday as strength in Industrials, Basic Materials and Financials supported gains across major French benchmarks.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 had risen 1.76%, while the broader SBF 120 gained 1.71%.
Top performers on the CAC 40
- Safran SA (EPA:SAF) was the leading gainer on the index, climbing 5.79% or 16.50 points to finish at 301.50.
- Societe Generale SA (EPA:SOGN) added 4.51% or 3.10 points to close at 71.90.
- Renault SA (EPA:RENA) rose 3.27% or 0.91 points to end the day at 28.77.
Lagging names on the CAC 40
- TotalEnergies SE (EPA:TTEF) was the weakest on the index, down 1.25% or 0.98 points to 77.67 at the close.
- Euronext (EPA:ENX) declined 0.55% or 0.80 points to finish at 145.40.
- Orange SA (EPA:ORAN) slipped 0.36% or 0.07 points to end at 18.14.
SBF 120 movers
- Worldline SA (EPA:WLN) led gains on the SBF 120, jumping 9.60% to 0.35.
- Air France KLM SA (EPA:AIRF) gained 6.24% to settle at 10.90.
- Safran SA (EPA:SAF) also featured among top SBF 120 performers, up 5.79% to close at 301.50.
On the downside within the SBF 120, Euroapi SAS (EPA:EAPI) fell 1.60% to 1.48, Verallia (EPA:VRLA) lost 1.29% to settle at 19.86 and TotalEnergies SE (EPA:TTEF) declined 1.25% to 77.67.
Market breadth and volatility
Rising stocks outnumbered decliners on the Paris Stock Exchange by 333 to 151, while 76 issues finished unchanged.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% at 18.96 and recorded a new 52-week high.
Commodities and energy futures
Gold Futures for August delivery rose 1.03% or 46.85 to $4,603.25 a troy ounce. In energy markets, crude oil for July delivery fell 5.26% or 5.08 to $91.52 a barrel, while the August Brent contract declined 5.01% or 5.02 to trade at $95.19 a barrel.
Currencies and futures
EUR/USD was reported unchanged at 0.33% to 1.16, while EUR/GBP was unchanged 0.17% to 0.86. The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.26% at 98.93.
