What to watch next

Investors may continue to monitor volatility measures such as the CAC 40 VIX, the performance of heavyweight industrial names, and commodity price moves that could feed through to broader market sentiment.

Risks

  • Elevated implied volatility in CAC 40 options - the CAC 40 VIX reached a new 52-week high at 18.96 - may signal greater near-term market uncertainty, which can affect financials and broader equities.
  • Notable declines in major financial and technology-linked stocks such as Societe Generale and STMicroelectronics introduce downside risk to the Financials and Industrials sectors.
  • Commodity price swings, including sharp moves in gold and crude, could amplify market volatility and influence sectors sensitive to input costs and commodity exposures.
