On the downside, Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (ETR:IFXGn) led decliners, slipping 3.95% or 2.26 points to close at 54.98. Rheinmetall AG (ETR:RHMG) fell 2.88%, losing 35.00 points to finish at 1,178.80, and Hannover Rueck SE (ETR:HNRGn) gave up 2.19% or 5.60 points to end at 250.60.


MDAX and TecDAX movers

On the MDAX, Aurubis AG (ETR:NAFG) was the session's best performer, up 4.41% to 172.80. K+S AG (ETR:SDFGn) climbed 3.27% to 15.17, and Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (ETR:AFXG) added 3.27% to close at 32.24.

Lagging in the MDAX were AUTO1 Group SE (ETR:AG1G), down 3.09% to 20.10, Aixtron SE (ETR:AIXGn), which lost 3.07% to finish at 37.30, and Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (ETR:TKAG), off 2.15% to 12.96.

Within the TecDAX, Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (ETR:AFXG) again featured among the leaders with a 3.27% gain to 32.24. 1&1 AG (ETR:1U1) rose 2.66% to settle at 21.20, and Evotec AG O.N. (ETR:EVTG) gained 2.53% to close at 3.40.

Other notable falls included SUSS MicroTec SE (ETR:SMHNn), which lost 6.30% to trade at 72.90, and Elmos Semiconductor AG (ETR:ELGG), down 4.12% to 139.60. Infineon (ETR:IFXGn) is reiterated as a principal decliner, ending at 54.98.

On the Frankfurt exchange, advancing issues outnumbered decliners 342 to 295, while 40 stocks finished unchanged.


Volatility, currencies and commodities

The DAX volatility index, which reflects implied volatility in DAX options, rose 7.29% to 16.93.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery were up 2.97% or 131.37 to $4,551.97 a troy ounce. Crude oil for October delivery gained 1.63% or 1.37 to $85.43 a barrel, and the October Brent contract rose 1.52% or 1.38 to $92.40 a barrel.

In FX markets, the euro strengthened against the dollar with EUR/USD up 0.77% to 1.17, while EUR/GBP moved 0.23% to 0.86. The US Dollar Index Futures was lower by 0.76% at 98.80.
