Denmark's stock market ended Wednesday with a modest advance as gains in select consumer, chemical and energy names pushed the benchmark higher.

At the close in Copenhagen, the OMX Copenhagen 20 was up 0.28%.

On the downside, Rockwool AS B (CSE:ROCKb) was the weakest large-cap name, sliding 5.01% or 11.00 points to close at 212.00. Carlsberg A/S B (CSE:CARLb) declined 2.11%, a drop of 19.20 points to 889.20, while Oersted AS (CSE:ORSTED) finished down 1.61%, losing 2.20 points to trade at 134.15.

Market breadth featured more losers than winners: falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Copenhagen Stock Exchange by 70 to 48, and 15 issues ended unchanged.

Commodities traded higher during the session. Crude oil for October delivery rose 1.55%, an increase of $1.30, to $85.36 a barrel. Brent oil for October delivery gained 1.42%, or $1.29, to $92.31 a barrel. The December Gold Futures contract advanced 2.74%, adding $121.10 to trade at $4,541.70 a troy ounce.

In currency markets, USD/DKK moved lower by 0.72% to 6.41, while EUR/DKK was essentially flat, changing by 0.01% to 7.48. The US Dollar Index Futures was quoted down 0.72% at 98.84.
