Finnish equities ended Thursday in positive territory, with sector-level strength in Telecoms, Utilities and Consumer Services contributing to a modest rise for the benchmark.
At the close in Helsinki, the OMX Helsinki 25 increased 0.34% from the prior session.
The session's leading performers on the OMX Helsinki 25 included Nokia Oyj (HE:NOKIA), which climbed 3.11% - an increase of 0.37 points - to finish at 12.10. Fortum Oyj (HE:FORTUM) added 2.19% or 0.45 points, closing at 21.04, and Mandatum Oyj (HE:MANTA) rose 1.30% or 0.08 points to end the day at 5.85.
On the downside, Qt Group Oyj (HE:QTCOM) recorded the largest decline, slipping 2.70% or 0.72 points to close at 25.98. KONE Oyj (HE:KNEBV) fell 1.70% or 0.88 points to 50.74, and Lumo Kodit Oyj (HE:LUMO) was down 1.38% or 0.11 points to finish at 7.51.
Market breadth favored advances, with 102 stocks rising versus 71 falling on the Helsinki Stock Exchange; 16 issues finished unchanged.
Notably, shares of Nokia Oyj rose to five-year highs, gaining 3.11% to close at 12.10.
Commodities traded with mixed direction on the session. Brent crude for July delivery rose 1.86% or 1.95 to $106.97 a barrel. U.S. crude for July delivery gained 2.42% or 2.38 to $100.64 a barrel. By contrast, the June Gold Futures contract moved lower, falling 0.97% or 44.00 to trade at $4,514.00 a troy ounce.
In foreign-exchange trading, EUR/USD was unchanged 0.32% to 1.16, while EUR/GBP was unchanged 0.05% to 0.86. The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.27% at 99.37.
The day's action left the OMX Helsinki 25 slightly higher overall, supported by gains among several large-cap names even as a subset of stocks posted losses.
