Turkey's equity market finished lower on Monday, with the BIST 100 index closing down 1.60% as pressure from the Leasing & Factoring, Transport and Technology sectors pulled the broader market into negative territory.
The session's top performers on the BIST 100 included Mia Teknoloji AS (IS:MIATK), which advanced 9.97% or 3.12 points to close at 34.42. Balsu Gida Sanayi ve Ticaret AS (IS:BALSU) added 9.96% or 1.33 points to finish at 14.69, while SASA Polyester Sanayi AS (IS:SASA) gained 5.37% or 0.13 points to end the day at 2.55.
On the downside, Destek Finans Faktoring As (IS:DSTKF) dropped 9.96% or 382.50 points, closing at 3,457.50. Gubre Fabrikalari TAS (IS:GUBRF) declined 5.94% or 26.00 points to 411.50, and Dogal Enerji Kaynaklari Arastirma ve Uretim AS (IS:TRENJ) fell 5.01% or 4.95 points to close at 93.80.
Market breadth showed a clear tilt toward falling issues: 448 stocks fell versus 168 that rose, and 11 finished unchanged on the Istanbul Stock Exchange.
Commodities saw mixed moves during the trading session. Gold Futures for August delivery slipped 2.21% or 90.83 to trade at $4,022.87 a troy ounce. By contrast, crude oil contracts strengthened: the August crude futures contract rose 4.48% or 3.20 to $74.61 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract was up 4.39% or 3.34 to $79.35 a barrel.
Currencies reflected modest lira weakness against major peers. The USD/TRY pair rose 0.08% to 47.00 and EUR/TRY increased 0.05% to 53.64. The US Dollar Index Futures also moved higher, up 0.19% at 100.94.
