Voyager Technologies Inc. (NYSE: VOYG) saw its stock climb 2% on Monday after the company disclosed a contract award from the U.S. Space Force Space Systems Command to develop space-to-space communication capabilities.
Under the terms of the agreement, Voyager will design a flight-ready waveform able to operate across multiple orbital regimes. The waveform development must satisfy specific constraints for weight, power consumption and design life as part of the company's deliverables to the Department of Defense.
In addition to waveform design, the contract requires Voyager to carry out an on-orbit communication demonstration. The demonstration is intended to validate the technology in an operational environment and contribute to a resilient data transport architecture for DoD missions.
The program explicitly aims to advance the Space Force's space-to-space communications technologies while supporting proliferated low Earth orbit capabilities. Those objectives position the work as a building block for expanded data networking among tactical spacecraft.
"The system we’re developing will securely connect tactically linked spacecraft and systems across every orbit, but the best technology only changes the game if the government can afford to field it at speed and scale," said Matt Magaña, president, Space, Defense & National Security at Voyager. "Our ability to deliver commercially with manufacturing capacity, transparent pricing and cost predictability is critical as the Space Force scales their data network."
Voyager noted that the new contract builds on its prior efforts in advanced space electronics and on-orbit performance validation. The company cited experience with radiation-hardened designs, precision radio frequency payloads and electronics that have been flight-proven across multiple missions.
The award and accompanying demonstration are focused efforts to enhance secure, resilient links among spacecraft, particularly as distributed low Earth orbit architectures proliferate. The technical scope emphasizes stringent engineering trade-offs - balancing waveform performance against constraints imposed by platform mass, available power and expected operational life.
Market reaction to the announcement was modest but positive, with the company's shares rising following the disclosure of the Space Force contract.
