Sector-level losses were concentrated in Transport, Non-Metal Mineral Products and Wood, Paper & Printing, which together helped push the benchmark lower. Market breadth was heavily tilted toward decliners: 524 issues fell, 93 advanced and 10 finished unchanged on the Istanbul Stock Exchange.

By contrast, crude oil strengthened: the August contract rose 7.10% or 5.00 to $75.44 a barrel, and the September Brent contract climbed 7.56% or 5.61 to $79.77 a barrel.
Currency markets were relatively stable: USD/TRY was up 0.05% to 46.86, while EUR/TRY slipped 0.03% to 53.47. The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.23% at 101.00.
Market context
The session featured a clear divergence between a small set of stocks posting gains and a much larger group recording declines, contributing to the BIST 100's 2.12% retreat. Notable single-stock moves included several double-digit percentage drops among laggards and modest-to-strong advances among the leaders. Katilimevim Tasarruf Finansman AS (IS:KTLEV) reaching an all-time high stood out amid otherwise weak breadth.
Implications for sectors
The Transport sector and segments tied to building materials and paper-related manufacturing recorded outsized losses, reflecting the day's sector leadership in driving the market down. Movements in oil and gold introduce additional input-cost and valuation considerations for firms exposed to energy prices and the broader materials chain.
