Tel Aviv equities finished the trading day higher on Wednesday, with the TA 35 index up 1.19% at the close. Sector strength was concentrated in Communication, Insurance and Oil & Gas, helping push the benchmark into positive territory.
Among individual large-cap movers, Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd (TASE:TEVA) recorded the session's largest advance, rising 9.76% - an increase of 914.00 points - to close at 10,280.00. Tower Semiconductor Ltd (TASE:TSEM) also posted a meaningful gain, adding 4.08% or 2,280.00 points to finish the day at 58,130.00. Newmed Energy LP (TASE:NWMDp) rounded out the top performers on the TA 35 list, advancing 3.20% or 60.00 points to end at 1,936.00 in late trade.
On the downside, Enlight Renewable Energy Ltd (TASE:ENLT) was the weakest name among the tracked stocks, slipping 1.43% or 380.00 points to close at 26,210.00. Nova (TASE:NVMI) declined 1.30%, a loss of 1,960.00 points, to finish at 149,290.00, while Ormat Technologies (TASE:ORA) fell 1.19% or 400.00 points to end at 33,200.00.
Market breadth on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange favored advancing issues by a margin of 310 to 164, with 77 stocks finishing unchanged.
Commodity markets showed marked moves during the session. Crude oil for June delivery climbed 5.23% - up 5.23 - to trade at $105.16 a barrel. Brent crude for July delivery rose 4.98% or 5.20 to reach $109.60 a barrel. In contrast, the June Gold Futures contract moved lower, down 1.23% or 56.51 to trade at $4,551.89 a troy ounce.
Currency and dollar indicators were also in motion. The USD/ILS exchange rate increased 0.45% to 2.97, while EUR/ILS rose 0.38% to 3.48. The US Dollar Index Futures was higher by 0.13% at 98.60.
This session combined strong performance among select large-cap stocks with elevated commodity price swings. Oil's advance coincided with outperformance in names tied to the energy sector, while selected technology and pharmaceutical issues contributed to the index's gains. At the same time, several renewable and industrial names moved lower, reflecting a mixed intra-market picture.
