KYIV, June 27 - Ukrainian-made Flamingo missiles struck a production facility for artillery systems and components used in missile launch systems in Russia's Volgograd region overnight, President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said on Saturday. He posted that the attack sparked a fire at the premises of the Titan-Barrikady plant.
Ukraine's SBU security service also reported that its drones attacked the "Vtorovo" oil pumping station in Russia's Vladimir region, marking the second time this month the site was targeted, the service said on Telegram. The SBU described the station as a key logistics hub used to transport petroleum products both to Russian domestic consumers and for export.
Zelenskiy framed the operations as an expansion of Kyiv's long-range pressure on targets deep inside Russia. "The reach of Ukraine's long-range sanctions continues to expand," he wrote, adding: "It is precisely our pressure, day after day, that lays the groundwork for a dignified peace in the end."
Ukrainian authorities have in recent months intensified mid- and long-range drone strikes on Russian oil facilities and sites tied to weapons production, characterising these measures as a response to Russia's damaging strikes on Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities. With the war now in its fifth year, fighting continues along more than 1,200 km of the frontline, and Russia is reported to launch hundreds of drones in nearly nightly attacks on Ukrainian cities and critical infrastructure.
Ukraine's state energy company Naftogaz said its production facilities in the Poltava and Kharkiv regions in the northeast suffered damage following Russian missile and drone attacks over the past two days.
Zelenskiy also said that during last week's attacks Russia launched nearly 1,400 drones and 19 missiles across 15 Ukrainian regions, and he underscored that deliveries of air defence systems and coordination on drone defence with Kyiv's allies remain key priorities.
