Ukrainian drones struck a number of industrial facilities in Ryazan, a city in central Russia, and forced the evacuation of a Wildberries warehouse, local officials and the online retailer said on Wednesday.
Wildberries reported that drones had damaged at least seven of its warehouses over the past several days. The company said the damage has destroyed about 10% of its storage capacity, disrupted operations and inflicted losses on tens of thousands of small businesses that sell goods and services through its platform.
Ryazan governor Pavel Malkov posted on the Telegram messaging app that industrial sites in the region caught fire and that six people were seeking medical attention. He did not provide specific details about the facilities affected. The Ryazan region hosts a number of large industrial complexes, including an oil refinery and a logistics hub, officials noted.
In a separate incident, regional governor Yuri Slyusar said missile debris struck an apartment building in the southern city of Taganrog on the Sea of Azov, killing a woman and injuring a man. Taganrog is home to various industrial facilities and a grain terminal, Slyusar added.
Local authorities in Ukraine’s Kherson reported on Telegram that a Russian drone attack there killed a man and wounded three others. Meanwhile, Russia’s defence ministry said its drones struck two vessels carrying weapons and military equipment east of the Ukrainian port of Odesa.
Both Ukraine and Russia have stepped up strikes on vessels in the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov in recent weeks, a pattern that has contributed to a decline in oil and grain supplies moving through the region, according to the accounts in the reports.
