Key Points

  • Grvt's token issuer repurchased and burned 1.1 million GRVT tokens, removing nearly 1% of circulating supply.
  • Four product launches - Grvt Earn, Stable Funding Perps, Yield as Margin, and Grvt 2.0 - are scheduled between end-October and the end of November 2026, with the platform aiming to list over 1,000 markets by end-December.
  • The moves target crypto trading, derivatives and tokenized-asset markets by attempting to combine yield generation with trading liquidity in a single self-custodial balance.

Singapore, October 20, 2026 - Grvt's Foundation token issuer has executed its inaugural open-market buyback of GRVT tokens, purchasing and sending 1.1 million GRVT to a burn address, the company said.

The transaction permanently removed roughly 1% of GRVT's circulating supply at the time of the purchase. Grvt described the burn as the first of five milestones that will lead into the platform's Grvt 2.0 release, scheduled for the end of November 2026.

A discretionary, verifiable repurchase program

The Foundation's token issuer said it intends to conduct additional buybacks on a monthly basis. Each repurchase will remain discretionary - the issuer will not be bound to a set purchase amount or a guaranteed timetable. The buybacks are being carried out through an independent execution partner. After purchase, tokens are transferred to a designated burn address and permanently removed from circulation.

Grvt has made the mechanics of each transaction verifiable on-chain. A public buyback dashboard records the number of tokens bought and burned, the share of circulating supply those purchases represent, cumulative burns and the on-chain transaction hashes for independent verification.

"The GRVT token is an important part of the ecosystem we are building," said Hong, co-founder and CEO of Grvt. "We welcome the issuer’s buybacks as a demonstration of its long-term commitment to the ecosystem and community. Grvt is expanding its products and markets, and the issuer’s buybacks sit alongside that as a supportive mechanism aimed at reducing circulating token supply."

Planned product milestones ahead of Grvt 2.0

The burn comes after GRVT's token generation event in July 2026 and ahead of a sequence of product launches that the company says will culminate in Grvt 2.0.

  • Grvt Earn - Targeted for the end of October, Grvt Earn will offer yield opportunities backed by tokenized assets. Grvt has stated target yields of up to 11%, with returns expected to originate from underlying asset cash flows such as interest, premiums and invoice-related income. The company said asset-supplying partners will be named at launch, and emphasized that target yields are not guaranteed.
  • Stable Funding Perps - Planned for November, these perpetual futures contracts will be linked to commodities, stocks, foreign exchange and indices. The product is intended to carry zero trading fees and to use once-daily funding. Grvt aims to list more than 1,000 markets by the end of December 2026.
  • Yield as Margin - Also scheduled for November, this feature will permit eligible Grvt Earn balances to support trading positions while continuing to accrue yield, subject to the product's terms and the platform's risk parameters.
  • Grvt 2.0 - Set for the end of November, Grvt 2.0 will consolidate those capabilities into a single self-custodial application. The release will also include a new name, a refreshed visual identity and the company’s roadmap for 2027.

Addressing idle capital and product intent

Grvt said the product roadmap responds to feedback collected from a trader survey conducted earlier in 2026. According to that survey, 60% of respondents reported keeping at least one-quarter of their capital idle on the platform, and many said they transferred funds elsewhere to chase yields of 8% or more.

Grvt's stated objective for the forthcoming features is to reduce the separation between earning yield and deploying capital for trading. "Traders shouldn’t have to choose between putting their capital to work and keeping it ready to trade," Hong said. "Grvt 2.0 is designed around a single self-custodial balance that can support both activities."

Product and token context

Founded in 2022, Grvt currently supports perpetual futures across approximately 200 cryptocurrency and real-world asset markets. The GRVT token launched in July 2026, and the company notes that the token confers no ownership, profit or other economic rights.

The announcement indicated that further details are available in the full launch materials and that asset-supplying partners for Grvt Earn will be announced at the product's launch.

Risks

  • Buybacks are discretionary with no guaranteed size or schedule, creating uncertainty about the scale and timing of future supply reductions - affects token holders and secondary markets.
  • Target yields for Grvt Earn (up to 11%) are not guaranteed and will depend on underlying asset cash flows, exposing yield-seeking users to performance and asset-specific risks - impacts investors and asset-supplying partners.
  • Allowing Earn balances to serve as margin could introduce additional risk to traders and the platform, as eligible balances supporting positions remain subject to product terms and the platform's risk parameters - relevant to trading and risk-management frameworks.
