Taken together, the trading day in Lisbon showed a market with selective strength in energy and utilities names, against broader weakness led by consumer-facing and industrial stocks. Volume and broader market internals pointed to more decliners than advancers by the close.

Risks

  • Market breadth favored decliners (15 down, 13 up), indicating short-term downside pressure in Consumer Services, Industrials and Financials.
  • Volatility in commodity prices - with oil higher and gold lower - could introduce sector-specific uncertainty for energy, mining and related stocks.
  • A firmer U.S. dollar index may exert pressure on exporters and commodity-linked companies listed on the PSI.
