On the downside, Renault SA (RENA) led decliners on the CAC 40, sliding 4.49% or 1.33 points to finish at 28.27. Stellantis NV (STLAM) dropped 3.41% or 0.15 points to 4.33, and Capgemini SE (CAPP) fell 2.81% or 3.05 points to close at 105.65.

Within the SBF 120, Soitec SA (SOIT) recorded the largest advance, jumping 13.41% to close at 139.50. Vallourec (VLLP) rose 6.42% to settle at 19.90, and X-Fab Silicon Foundries EV (XFAB) added 4.73% to finish at 5.98.

The weakest names on the SBF 120 mirrored those on the CAC 40: Renault SA (RENA) was down 4.49% at 28.27, Stellantis NV (STLAM) lost 3.41% to 4.33, and Trigano SA (TRIA) fell 3.17% to close at 143.40.

Market breadth in Paris was tilted toward decliners. Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones by 242 to 226, while 81 issues finished unchanged.

Stellantis shares were noted to have reached multi-year lows in the session: shares in Stellantis NV (STLAM) fell to 5-year lows, losing 3.41% or 0.15 to end at 4.33.

Volatility on the benchmark index moved higher. The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96, registering a new 52-week high.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery rose 1.32% or 57.35 to $4,390.15 a troy ounce. Crude oil prices fell: the October contract lost 3.31% or 3.50 to $102.33 a barrel, while the November Brent contract declined 3.10% or 3.37 to trade at $105.38 a barrel.

In currency markets, EUR/USD was essentially flat, changing by 0.05% to 1.15, while EUR/GBP was also little changed at 0.86, moving 0.19%. The US Dollar Index Futures rose 0.09% to 99.44.
