Italian equities finished the Monday session with gains, the Investing.com Italy 40 closing up 1.34% in Milan as sector strength in Financials, Travel & Leisure and Telecoms helped lift overall market sentiment.
On a stock level, Brunello Cucinelli (BIT:BCU) was the session's strongest performer, climbing 5.03% or 4.42 points to finish at 92.34. Biotech firm DiaSorin SpA (BIT:DIAS) added 4.59% or 3.30 points to close at 75.16, while aerospace supplier Avio SpA (BIT:AVI) rose 4.34% or 1.26 points to 30.29 at the close.

Semiconductor and technology-related STMicroelectronics (BIT:STMMI) declined 0.85% or 0.39 points to end at 45.29. Defense and aerospace group Leonardo SpA (BIT:LDOF) finished down 0.74% or 0.41 points at 54.71.
Market breadth on the Milan exchange showed a clear skew toward advancing issues, with 516 stocks higher versus 225 that declined; 47 names finished unchanged.
Commodity markets registered notable moves during the session. Crude oil for September delivery weakened 6.00% or $5.08 to $79.59 a barrel. Brent oil for October delivery fell 4.83% or $4.25 to $83.68 a barrel. In precious metals, the December Gold Futures contract dropped 0.37% or $15.25 to trade at $4,091.75 a troy ounce.
Foreign exchange rates were relatively steady. The euro-euro/dollar pair (EUR/USD) was quoted effectively unchanged at 1.15, and EUR/GBP remained flat at 0.86. The US Dollar Index Futures was marginally higher, up 0.02% at 99.81.
Key market movers and cross-market developments from the session highlight a mixed internal picture: selective strength among consumer and specialty names contrasted with weakness in energy and some industrial-technology large caps, while commodity price declines were pronounced for crude and Brent.
