Top movers
The session's strongest performers on the Investing.com Italy 40 included Prysmian SpA (BIT:PRY), which climbed 3.38% - gaining 4.00 points to finish at 122.20. Lottomatica Group SpA (BIT:LTMC) rose 2.76%, or 0.74 points, to close at 27.59. Utility Italgas SpA (BIT:IG) added 2.42%, an increase of 0.20 points, ending the day at 8.37.
Lagging names
Among the session's weakest names, Stellantis NV (BIT:STLAM) fell 3.33%, losing 0.15 points to end at 4.34. Payments firm Nexi SpA (BIT:NEXII) declined 1.30%, slipping 0.06 points to close at 4.16. Energy major Eni SpA (BIT:ENI) was down 0.80%, a drop of 0.20 points to 24.24.
Market breadth and notable levels
Advancing issues outnumbered decliners at the Milan Stock Exchange, with 433 stocks rising versus 253 that fell, while 34 shares finished unchanged. Shares of Stellantis fell to five-year lows during the session, closing at 4.34 after the 3.33% drop.
Commodities and related market moves
Energy markets saw declines: crude oil for October delivery slipped 3.27% - down $3.46 - to $102.37 a barrel. Brent oil for November delivery fell 3.05%, down $3.32, to $105.43 a barrel.
On the metals front, the December Gold Futures contract rose 1.30% - an increase of $56.27 - to trade at $4,389.07 a troy ounce.
Foreign exchange and indices
The euro was largely unchanged against major peers: EUR/USD moved by 0.04% to 1.15, while EUR/GBP was unchanged at 0.86. Separately, the US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.09% at 99.43.
