Session summary

The session closed with a negative bias across the S&P/BMV IPC, as losses in consumer-facing and industrial names outpaced gains in select financial and service-related listings. Volume and breadth favored decliners, and a handful of large-cap stocks accounted for outsized moves in both directions. Commodities were mixed, with gold and U.S. crude lower while Brent was marginally higher, and the dollar showed modest strength in futures trading.

Risks

  • Continued pressure in Consumer Goods & Services and Consumer Staples may weigh further on sector performance if declines persist.
  • Weakness in key media and consumer names, such as Grupo Televisa and Grupo Bimbo, introduces downside risk to index returns.
  • Moves in commodities and the dollar - including lower gold and U.S. crude and a firmer dollar index - could create additional volatility for commodity-linked and export-oriented companies.
