Stocks in Denmark finished the trading day higher on Thursday, with the OMX Copenhagen 20 gaining 0.12% at the close in Copenhagen. Sector advances in Consumer Goods, Oil & Gas and Industrials underpinned the modest market uptick.
Among individual names on the OMX Copenhagen 20, Vestas Wind Systems A/S (CSE:VWS) recorded the largest percentage gain for the session, rising 2.41% - equivalent to a 4.20 point increase - to finish at 176.20. NKT Holding (CSE:NKT) added 1.47%, or 13.50 points, closing at 933.50. AP Moeller - Maersk A/S B (CSE:MAERSKb) also advanced, up 1.28% or 215.00 points to end the day at 16,985.00.
Not all stocks moved higher. Pandora A/S (CSE:PNDORA) led decliners on the index, slipping 2.77% - a fall of 23.20 points - to close at 813.00. Genmab (CSE:GMAB) lost 0.79%, or 15.00 points, to end at 1,877.00, and Coloplast A/S (CSE:COLOb) fell 0.68%, or 2.90 points, to finish at 426.10.
Advancing issues outnumbered decliners on the Copenhagen exchange by 69 to 53, with 13 stocks unchanged at the close.
Commodity markets showed stronger moves during the session. Crude oil for September delivery rose 2.11%, gaining $1.59 to trade at $76.81 a barrel. Brent crude for October delivery climbed 2.54%, or $2.02, to $81.47 a barrel. Precious metals recorded a small advance as the December Gold Futures contract moved up 0.19%, or $8.27, to trade at $4,313.47 a troy ounce.
In foreign exchange trading, the US dollar strengthened against the Danish krone, with USD/DKK up 0.27% to 6.49. The euro-krone pair, EUR/DKK, was effectively unchanged, moving 0.03% to 7.48. The US Dollar Index Futures rose 0.30% to 99.84 by the close.
