Moroccan equities closed higher on Tuesday, with the Moroccan All Shares index ending the session up 1.05% in Casablanca. Strength in the Banking, Beverage and Transport sectors helped underpin the advance.
The session's top individual performers included Managem (CSE:MNG), which surged 9.92% - adding 130.00 points to finish at 1,440.00. Zellidja S.A (CSE:ZDJ) climbed 9.88%, gaining 29.05 points to reach 323.00, while Maghreb Oxygene (CSE:MOX) rose 8.22%, or 30.45 points, to close at 401.00.
On the downside, Involys (CSE:INV) led decliners after slipping 2.95% - a 3.75 point fall to 123.25 at the close. CTM (CSE:CTM) retreated 2.68%, down 23.50 points to 855.00, and Colorado (CSE:COL) lost 2.38%, or 1.89 points, to end the session at 77.50.
Overall market breadth on the Casablanca Stock Exchange was slightly positive: rising issues outnumbered decliners by 29 to 25, while 10 stocks finished unchanged.
Notably, shares of Zellidja S.A advanced to five-year highs, closing at 323.00 after a 9.88% increase.
Commodities and currency moves accompanied equity trading. Crude oil for September delivery fell 4.29%, down $3.45 to $76.89 a barrel. Brent oil for October delivery declined 3.71%, or $3.11, to $80.66 a barrel. In metals, the December Gold Futures contract rose 1.26%, gaining $51.40 to trade at $4,141.90 a troy ounce.
Foreign exchange rates versus the Moroccan dirham showed small moves: the euro was 0.14% weaker against the dirham at 10.73 (EUR/MAD -0.14%), while the US dollar fell 0.12% to 9.32 (USD/MAD -0.12%). The US Dollar Index Futures was unchanged at 99.78.
The day’s activity highlights a market where a few large percentage gains among select miners and industrial names supported the index headline, while a set of mid- and small-cap names recorded declines.
