What to watch

Although the BEL 20 closed lower, several individual names posted gains, including a notable five-year high for Ageas. At the same time, heavyweight names such as Argen‑X and Anheuser Busch Inbev registered the day's steepest declines, contributing to the index's modest retreat.

Risks

  • Weakness in Healthcare, Consumer Services and Utilities contributed to the index decline - these sectors could exert further downward pressure on the BEL 20.
  • Sharp falls in oil prices - crude for September and Brent for October both declined materially - which can influence energy and commodity-linked sectors.
  • Notable individual stock declines among large-cap names such as Argen‑X and Anheuser Busch Inbev could amplify index volatility if selling continues.
