Poland's main benchmark moved into positive territory at the close on Monday, with the WIG30 finishing the session up 0.51%.
The market advance was supported by gains in Information Technology, Banking and Media stocks, which pushed the index higher by the end of trading in Warsaw.
The session's standout performers on the WIG30 included Asseco Poland SA (ACPP), which climbed 5.31% - a rise of 9.70 points - to finish at 192.40. Dino Polska SA (DNP) added 4.13%, an increase of 1.19 points, closing at 29.97. CD PROJEKT SA (CDR) rose 3.67%, or 8.30 points, ending the day at 234.50.
On the downside, Zabka Group SA (ZAB) registered the largest fall among WIG30 components, dropping 9.57% - down 2.98 points - to close at 28.17. Polski Koncern Naftowy ORLEN SA (PKN) slid 3.21%, a decline of 5.00 points, to finish at 151.00. PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna SA (PGE) was down 2.19%, or 0.23 points, closing at 10.25.
Market breadth was narrowly negative at the Warsaw Stock Exchange, with falling issues outnumbering risers by 253 to 245, while 129 stocks finished unchanged.
Commodity markets moved notably during the session. Crude oil for September delivery dropped 6.74%, or $6.02, to settle at $83.29 a barrel. Brent oil for October delivery fell 5.78%, or $5.30, ending at $86.38 a barrel. In contrast, the August gold futures contract saw a small uptick, rising 0.11% - $4.60 - to trade at $4,075.40 a troy ounce.
FX rates against the Polish zloty finished higher for both major currencies mentioned: EUR/PLN was up 0.26% at 4.32 and USD/PLN rose 0.20% to 3.80. The US Dollar Index Futures was essentially unchanged on the day, quoted at 101.31, a 0.01% increase.
