Within the S&P 500, several stocks posted steep gains. Palantir Technologies Inc (NASDAQ:PLTR) jumped 29.45% to 162.66, Zebra Technologies Corporation (NASDAQ:ZBRA) rose 26.47% to settle at 368.83, and Gartner Inc (NYSE:IT) advanced 22.61% to close at 185.79.
Conversely, notable S&P 500 decliners included Aptiv PLC (NYSE:APTV), which fell 16.62% to 47.72, NRG Energy Inc (NYSE:NRG), which lost 15.48% to end at 117.04, and Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc (NYSE:CMG), which was down 9.72% to 33.82 at the close.
The Nasdaq Composite featured dramatic individual moves at the small-cap end of the market. Autonomix Medical Inc (NASDAQ:AMIX) surged 434.25% to 19.50, Quanome Technologies, Inc (NASDAQ:QNME) rose 120.64% to 0.69, and Adagio Medical Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:ADGM) climbed 75.50% to 0.81.
On the downside for the Nasdaq, Next Technology Holding Inc (NASDAQ:NXTT) plunged 73.56% to 0.11, Reitar Logtech Holdings Ltd (NASDAQ:RITR) dropped 57.26% to 0.15, and Adapthealth Corp (NASDAQ:AHCO) fell 38.04% to 6.71.
Market breadth was positive. On the New York Stock Exchange, advancing issues outnumbered decliners by 1,816 to 907, with 85 stocks unchanged. On the Nasdaq, 2,419 stocks rose, 993 declined and 172 finished unchanged.

In commodities, Gold Futures for December delivery were up 1.03% - or 42.00 - to $4,132.50 a troy ounce. Crude oil for September delivery fell 5.89% - or 4.73 - to $75.61 a barrel, while the October Brent contract dropped 5.56% - or 4.66 - to trade at $79.11 a barrel.
In foreign exchange markets, EUR/USD was essentially unchanged, moving 0.21% to 1.15, while USD/JPY rose 0.35% to 157.73. The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.04% at 99.74.
