Tesla has launched a six-seat version of its Model Y in the United States and Puerto Rico, announcing the new configuration on its X account. Branded the Model Y Long Wheelbase, the vehicle expands the compact SUV's interior options with a three-row layout and a second row fitted with captain seats.
The company lists performance at 0 to 60 miles per hour in 4.4 seconds and a driving range of 325 miles for the new variant. Tesla described a range of comfort and convenience features across all three rows.
Front seats receive heating and ventilation as well as powered thigh cushions. The second row offers heated and ventilated captain seats with powered armrests and a one-touch fold capability to ease access to the third row. The third-row seats are heated, include power recline, offer one-touch folding and are equipped with child seat anchors.
Tesla specified cargo capacity at 89 cubic feet, noting that the space can accommodate a 28-inch and a 20-inch suitcase for each of the six occupants. In addition, the front trunk provides room for an extra 20-inch suitcase.
To address in-cabin noise and ride quality, Tesla fitted the Long Wheelbase with upgraded acoustic glass and revised suspension hardware. The vehicle incorporates adaptive damping and staggered tires. Exterior changes cited by the company include a larger tailgate and increased window area for improved visibility.
Inside, the first row features a 16-inch central touchscreen while a secondary 8-inch screen is available for the second row. Audio is delivered through a 19-speaker system. Tesla also installed upgraded 50-watt wireless charging pads with active cooling in the front seats and provided charging ports for the remaining seating positions.
On the software and safety side, the Model Y Long Wheelbase ships with Full Self-Driving Supervised and integrated Grok AI technology. Tesla also highlighted seat-belt optimizations and side airbags designed for the second and third rows.
Availability - The company announced the six-seat Model Y specifically for the United States and Puerto Rico.
