Israel's equity market closed in negative territory on Monday, with the TA-35 index down 2.15% at the end of trading in Tel Aviv. The downward move was led by declines across the Real Estate, Technology and Biomed sectors, which exerted broad pressure on share prices.
Market breadth showed more falling issues than rising ones: 312 stocks declined, 165 advanced and 83 finished unchanged on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange.
Top performers
- NICE Ltd (TASE:NICE) was the session's strongest performer on the TA-35, climbing 7.18% - an increase of 1,910.00 points - to close at 28,510.00.
- Newmed Energy LP (TASE:NWMDp) gained 3.22%, or 54.00 points, finishing the day at 1,729.00.
- Melisron (TASE:MLSR) rose 2.53%, adding 1,030.00 points to reach 41,800.00 at the close.
Largest decliners
- Tower Semiconductor Ltd (TASE:TSEM) posted the biggest drop among TA-35 components, sliding 14.56% - a fall of 11,550.00 points - to end at 67,800.00.
- Nova (TASE:NVMI) fell 7.87%, or 11,190.00 points, to close at 130,910.00.
- Camtek Ltd (TASE:CAMT) declined 7.05%, losing 3,430.00 points and finishing at 45,220.00.
Commodities and currencies also moved notably during the session. Crude oil for September delivery fell 6.24%, or $5.57, to $83.74 a barrel. Brent for October delivery dropped 5.49%, or $5.03, to $86.65 a barrel. In metals, the August Gold Futures contract inched up 0.11%, a gain of $4.35, to trade at $4,075.15 a troy ounce.
FX markets showed modest moves against the shekel: USD/ILS rose 0.28% to 3.06, while EUR/ILS increased 0.31% to 3.48. The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.04% at 101.34.
The session's price action left the exchange with a pronounced skew toward declines and a handful of large single-stock moves shaping index performance. Energy and commodity prices, together with currency shifts, were part of the wider market picture during the trading day.
