Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Lisbon Stock Exchange by 13 to 13 and 4 ended unchanged.


Commodities and currencies

Energy markets moved sharply: Brent oil for October delivery was down 5.67% or 5.20 to $86.48 a barrel. In U.S. crude, the September contract fell 6.81% or 6.08 to $83.23 a barrel. Precious metals saw a modest uptick, with the August Gold Futures contract rising 0.33% or 13.55 to trade at $4,084.35 a troy ounce.

In foreign exchange, EUR/USD was largely unchanged, moving 0.07% to 1.14, while EUR/GBP was unchanged 0.23% to 0.86. The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 101.31.
