Not all names moved higher. SalMar ASA (OL:SALM) was the worst performer on the Oslo OBX, slipping 1.43% or 7.50 points to 515.50 at the close. Mowi ASA (OL:MOWI) retreated 1.07% - down 2.20 points - to finish at 202.60. Yara International ASA (OL:YAR) declined 0.82%, a drop of 3.70 points, to close at 446.70.

Market breadth was narrow: declining issues outnumbered advancing ones on the Oslo Stock Exchange by 128 to 121, while 33 shares finished unchanged.

Commodities saw notable moves during the session. Crude oil for September delivery rose 2.51%, gaining $2.10 to settle at $85.69 a barrel. Brent oil for October delivery increased 1.89%, up $1.64 to $88.52 a barrel. In contrast, the August Gold Futures contract fell 1.43%, a decline of $58.50, to trade at $4,041.60 a troy ounce.

Foreign exchange markets showed some support for the Norwegian krone. EUR/NOK moved lower by 0.56% to 10.92, while USD/NOK fell 0.31% to 9.49. The US Dollar Index Futures was higher as well, up 0.32% at 100.04.
