  • Sector drivers - Gains were concentrated in Travel & Leisure, Financials and Healthcare.
  • Notable movers - Ferrari, Lottomatica and Buzzi Unicem recorded the largest advances, while Prysmian, Tenaris and Eni posted the steepest declines.

The session underscored a divergence between consumer and financial names that pushed the index higher and energy and industrial names that retreated, coinciding with a sharp drop in oil benchmarks.

Risks

  • Significant declines in crude and Brent oil prices present uncertainty for energy sector names and related industrial companies, as reflected in drops for Eni, Tenaris and Prysmian.
  • Concentration of gains in specific sectors - Travel & Leisure, Financials and Healthcare - means breadth could narrow if those sectors reverse, which would weigh on the overall index performance.
  • Volatility in commodities and currency measures, including a small move in EUR/USD and a near-flat EUR/GBP, could influence corporate revenue and input cost dynamics for exporters and importers.
