Friday’s trading session produced pronounced price swings across market-cap segments, with several mega-cap names declining sharply. Semiconductor and technology names accounted for many of the largest drops, while a handful of small-cap and micro-cap issues posted outsized gains. Planet Labs reported a revenue beat for Q1 attributed to government demand, but its stock fell more than 20% intraday.

Risks

  • Intraday volatility produced discrepant percentage quotes for some symbols, indicating differing intraday prints or updates - this affects interpretation of exact intraday moves (impacts technology and semiconductor sectors).
  • Company-specific earnings and guidance drove outsized moves for individual stocks such as Zumiez and Planet Labs, creating uncertainty for retail and aerospace-related supply chains mentioned in the moves (impacts retail and aerospace-related stocks).
  • Small-cap and micro-cap price action included very large percentage swings, which can reflect low liquidity and company-specific events rather than broad market trends (impacts small-cap and speculative sectors).
