Top movers on the IBEX 35
The best-performing names on the benchmark were Acerinox (BME:ACX), which rose 3.80% - adding 0.66 points to finish at 18.04; Amadeus IT (BME:AMA), up 3.71% or 1.98 points to close at 55.32; and Indra A (BME:IDR), which gained 3.13% or 1.78 points to end the day at 58.58.
Notable laggards
On the downside, Acciona (BME:ANA) led declines with a 3.10% drop, losing 7.40 points to finish at 231.20. Solar energy producer SOLARIA ENERGIA Y MEDIO AMBIENTE (BME:SLRS) declined 2.88%, down 0.49 points to 16.33, while real estate firm Merlin Properties SA (BME:MRL) slipped 2.06% or 0.31 points to 14.75 by the close.
Market breadth and session composition
On the Madrid Stock Exchange, advancing issues outnumbered decliners by 104 to 81, while 29 stocks finished unchanged. That breadth reflected a broadly constructive session despite the pockets of weakness among specific large caps.
Commodities and FX
Commodities showed weakness during the trading day. Gold futures for December delivery were down 0.41%, a loss of 16.70, to trade at 4,090.30 US dollars a troy ounce. Crude oil prices fell notably: the September WTI contract lost 5.82% or 4.93 to settle at 79.74 dollars a barrel, while the October Brent contract dropped 4.72% or 4.15 to 83.78 dollars a barrel.
In currency markets, EUR/USD was effectively unchanged at 1.15, showing a 0.19% move reported as unchanged, and EUR/GBP also recorded an unchanged 0.19% to 0.86. The US Dollar Index futures registered a modest uptick of 0.05% to 99.84.
Overall, Monday's trading left the IBEX 35 at record levels, supported by sector leadership in Telecoms & IT, Consumer Goods and Financial Services & Real Estate, even as energy and precious metals markets moved lower.
