Indonesia's benchmark index closed lower on Monday, retreating 0.68% as losses concentrated in the Infrastructure, Financials and Agriculture sectors outpaced gains. A handful of companies delivered steep intraday advances, including Digital Mediatama Maxima, Saranacentral Bajatama and Nusantara Voucher Distribution, while Puri Sentul Permai, Multipolar Technology and Indo Oil Perkasa led declines. Commodity weakness in crude and Brent oil coincided with a firmer rupiah against the dollar.

This close reflects a session in which sector-level losses in Infrastructure, Financials and Agriculture outweighed sharp gains among select individual stocks, while commodity price moves and currency fluctuations formed part of the broader market backdrop.

Risks

  • Sector weakness - Losses concentrated in Infrastructure, Financials and Agriculture may pressure related stocks and investor sentiment in those sectors.
  • Commodity volatility - Significant declines in crude and Brent oil prices could affect energy-related companies and broader market sentiment.
  • Currency movement - A firmer USD/IDR and moves in AUD/IDR introduce FX considerations for exporters, importers and foreign-invested firms.
