Turkey's equity benchmark retreated on Monday, with the BIST 100 ending the session 0.35% lower in Istanbul as sector-specific declines outpaced gains among select smaller issues.
Sector performance was led lower by companies in Leasing & Factoring, Food & Beverages and Wholesale & Retail Trade, which collectively contributed to the market's downward bias. Market breadth favored decliners: 394 stocks fell, 226 advanced and 16 finished unchanged.
At the individual stock level, Cw Enerji Muhendislik Ticaret ve Sanayi AS (IS:CWENE) was the session's top gainer on the index, climbing 10.00% to close at 37.40. Pasifik Eurasia Lojistik Dis Ticaret AS (IS:PASEU) followed with a 9.03% rise to 169.00, and Odine Solutions Teknoloji Ticaret ve Sanayi AS (IS:ODINE) added 6.80% to finish at 2,670.00. Odine also reached a fresh all-time high during the session.
On the other end of the board, Katilimevim Tasarruf Finansman AS (IS:KTLEV) dropped 10.00% to 41.42, while Efor Yatirim Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. (IS:EFOR) slipped 9.98% to 18.67. Sekerbank TAS (IS:SKBNK) also recorded a sharp move lower, falling 9.90% to 6.28.
Commodities reflected a risk-off tilt during the session. Gold futures for December delivery fell 0.46% to $4,087.95 a troy ounce. In energy markets, U.S. crude for September delivery declined 5.63% to $79.90 a barrel, and the October Brent contract eased 4.25% to $84.19 a barrel.

Although a few smaller capitalisation stocks registered outsized gains, the session's overall tone was weighed down by sectoral selling and weakness in energy and precious metals. Market participants tracked the depth of declines across financial and retail-related names that contributed materially to the negative breadth.
Looking ahead, the market's direction will continue to be influenced by sector-specific flows and global commodity price moves, both of which were notable drivers during the session.
