On the downside, HCL Technologies Ltd (NSE:HCLT) slid 2.18% or 29.90 points to 1,340.00 at the close. Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NSE:TCS) fell 1.86% or 45.80 points to 2,414.20, while Apollo Hospitals Enterprises Ltd. (NSE:APLH) lost 1.65% or 149.50 points to end trading at 8,900.50.

(BO:TCS) fell 1.23% to 2,419.80, HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) lost 1.12% to finish at 1,341.00 and Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) slipped 0.93% to 1,281.00.

The India VIX, a gauge of implied volatility for Nifty 50 options, eased 1.89% to 11.96. In commodities trading, December Gold Futures climbed 1.52% or 63.15 to $4,215.75 a troy ounce. Crude oil also firmed: the September contract rose 1.12% or 0.85 to $76.62 a barrel, and the October Brent contract gained 1.95% or 1.55 to trade at $80.91 a barrel.

In foreign exchange markets, USD/INR moved lower by 0.25% to 95.14, while EUR/INR fell 0.23% to 109.75. The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.04% at 99.70.

Shares of Shriram Finance Ltd. (NSE:SHMF) reached a new high during the session, rising 2.69% to 1,116.50. Nestle India Ltd (BO:NEST) also touched an all-time high, climbing 1.94% to 1,521.00.
