General Dynamics was awarded two contract modifications by the U.S. Department of War totaling $273.2 million, the government announced Friday. The agreements appoint two company units to supply hardware and services for naval and aviation programs, with work scheduled at multiple U.S. sites and funded from specified fiscal-year appropriations.
Hammerhead procurement for mission systems
General Dynamics Mission Systems, based in Taunton, Massachusetts, received a $229.7 million fixed-price incentive modification to contract N00024-21-C-6425. The modification covers the purchase of 188 additional Hammerhead units and eight associated peculiar support equipment sets. Performance locations and estimated work shares include Taunton, Massachusetts (55%); Braintree, Massachusetts (15%); Lincoln, Nebraska (13%); Wilmington, Massachusetts (10%); and Accident, Maryland (7%). The modification sets an expected completion date of October 2028.
The $229.7 million will be funded with fiscal 2025 weapons procurement (Navy) appropriations and will be obligated at the time of award; those funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. Naval Sea Systems Command in Washington, D.C., is identified as the contracting activity. The award was not competitively procured in accordance with 10 U.S. Code 3204(a)(1), which covers procurement from one responsible source.
F-35 IT and cybersecurity support scope added
General Dynamics One Source LLC, located in Falls Church, Virginia, was given a $43.6 million firm-fixed-price modification to contract N0001924C0057. That change adds scope to procure transitional information technology and information assurance and cybersecurity services in support of the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter program.
Work for the F-35 support modification is planned at several locations, with Arlington, Virginia receiving the largest share at approximately 79.9%. Other listed locations and shares include Edwards Air Force Base, California (5.5%); Patuxent River, Maryland (3.7%); Fort Worth, Texas (3.1%); Eglin Air Force Base, Florida (2.4%); China Lake, California (1.2%); Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio (1.2%); and various locations within the continental United States (3%). The modification carries an expected completion date of July 2027.
Funding for the F-35 modification will be obligated at the time of award and is drawn from multiple fiscal 2026 appropriations: $40.4 million from aircraft procurement (Air Force); $380,836 from operations and maintenance (Navy); $125,000 from operations and maintenance (Marine Corps); and $2.6 million from Foreign Military Sales customer funds. Naval Air Systems Command in Patuxent River, Maryland, is the contracting activity for this award.
Both contract actions identify specific funding streams and contracting authorities and set clear timelines for completion. The awards also allocate work across a range of domestic facilities and reflect the use of statutory procurement authorities where applicable.
