Flughafen Wien AG said Wednesday that group revenue in the first half edged up 0.9%, with passenger increases at its Malta and Košice facilities compensating for softer traffic at its Vienna hub.
For the first six months of the year the company reported group net profit that rose 7.0%. Management attributed the improvement to the growth in Malta and Košice, a strict cost-savings program and certain special effects.
Key financials for the period included first-half revenue of c529.30 million. Operating profit (EBIT) stood at c159.40 million and EBITDA came in at c227.10 million.
Following the first-half results, Flughafen Wien updated its full-year 2026 outlook. The operator now expects group revenue of approximately c1.08 billion - a revision upward from its prior, lower projection. The company also set a group passenger volume target for 2026 of roughly 42.5 million, with Vienna Airport forecast to handle about 30.5 million passengers.
On profitability for the full year, Flughafen Wien reiterated its expectation for group net profit of about c220 million before non-controlling interests.
Management highlighted that Vienna experienced a decline in passenger volumes during the reporting period. The company linked this weakness to a reduction in low-cost carrier capacity and the impact of the conflict in the Middle East. Those headwinds at the Vienna hub were largely offset by strong passenger growth recorded at the Malta and Ko61ice airports.
The company identified earnings improvement as the result of a disciplined cost-savings program together with special effects that supported first-half profitability.
Summary analysis - The first-half results show a modest top-line gain alongside a stronger bottom-line performance. Growth at smaller airports and active cost management provided the main lift, enabling Flughafen Wien to raise its revenue and passenger guidance for 2026 despite regional softness at its primary Vienna hub.
