Overview
Liechtenstein-based Liechtensteinische Landesbank (LLB) recorded net profit of CHF 105 million for the first half of 2026, representing a 15% rise compared with the same six-month period a year earlier. The bank described the result as underpinned by stable operating income, lower costs and contributions from client-driven revenues.
Income and expenses
Operating income for the half-year was CHF 315.50 million, up 0.9% from the prior year. Operating expenses fell 6.8% to CHF 190.60 million. The bank attributed the reduction in costs primarily to lower personnel expenses and the absence of integration costs that had weighed on the prior-year period.
Revenue drivers
Fee and commission income increased by 5.9%, aided by higher volumes of client assets. LLB also reported that trading activity rose during the period, a development the bank linked to heightened geopolitical tensions that boosted market turnover.
Asset and performance metrics
The bank said it reached record levels for both total business volume and client assets under management, reflecting growth across its business segments. LLB reported a return on equity of 8.8% for the half-year and earnings per share of CHF 3.45.
Outlook
LLB confirmed it is maintaining the outlook it issued in February for 2026, expecting a solid business result for the full year. At the same time, the bank cautioned that challenging market conditions are likely to persist due to ongoing geopolitical and economic uncertainties.
Implications
The half-year results reflect a combination of modest top-line growth, expense discipline and favorable client trends. The bank highlighted client asset growth and trading revenues as key contributors, while stressing that external geopolitical and macroeconomic factors remain a source of uncertainty for markets and financial services activity.
