Brazil stocks closed higher after the session on Monday, led by advances across Real Estate, Industrials and Consumption-linked companies that pushed the benchmark up at the Sao Paulo settlement. At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa rose 0.74%.
Among individual movers, Marfrig Global Foods (BVMF:MBRF3) was the top performer, climbing 7.08% or 1.05 points to finish at 15.84. Software firm Totvs SA (BVMF:TOTS3) added 6.95% or 1.91 points to end the day at 29.34. Steelmaker Companhia Siderurgica Nacional (BVMF:CSNA3) also registered a strong gain, up 6.53% or 0.35 points to close at 5.69.
At the other end of the tape, energy-related names posted the steepest declines. Prio SA (BVMF:PRIO3) fell 5.29% or 3.11 points to trade at 55.74 at the close. Petroreconcavo SA (BVMF:RECV3) declined 3.31% or 0.35 points to finish at 10.24. Petroleo Brasileiro SA (BVMF:PETR3) slipped 3.15% or 1.50 points to end the session at 46.11.
Market breadth on the B3 Stock Exchange favoured advancers: 588 stocks rose while 328 declined and 55 were unchanged.
Volatility as measured by the CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility index, which tracks implied volatility of Bovespa options, eased during the session and was down 4.02% to 28.18.
Commodities and FX showed divergent moves. Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.25% or 10.10 to $4,080.90 a troy ounce. In energy markets, Crude oil for September delivery fell 8.33% or 7.44 to hit $81.87 a barrel. Agricultural commodities saw gains for coffee: the September US coffee C contract rose 2.95% or 9.25 to trade at $323.05.
On currency crosses, USD/BRL moved higher by 0.57% to 5.11, while EUR/BRL rose 0.89% to 5.83. The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 101.36.
Overall, the close reflected selective strength among domestic cyclicals and consumer-related names, while energy and some commodity-linked equities lagged. The balance of advancing versus declining issues and the drop in implied volatility suggest a session dominated by stock-specific moves rather than broad risk-off pressure.
