Among S&P/ASX 200 constituents, Domino's Pizza Enterprises Ltd (ASX:DMP) led gains, climbing 8.57% or 1.54 points to end at 19.50. Wisetech Global Ltd (ASX:WTC) advanced 6.81% or 2.42 points to close at 37.94, and Mineral Resources Ltd (ASX:MIN) rose 3.94% or 2.19 points to finish at 57.81.
On the downside, Liontown Resources Ltd (ASX:LTR) posted the steepest drop, falling 10.41% or 0.12 points to close at 0.99. IperionX Limited (ASX:IPX) declined 8.09% or 0.25 points to end the session at 2.84, and Champion Iron Ltd (ASX:CIA) was down 7.81% or 0.31 points to 3.66.
Breadth and notable lows
Decliners outnumbered advancers on the Sydney exchange by 762 to 342, with 360 stocks unchanged at the close. Shares of IperionX Limited fell to 52-week lows, slipping 8.09% to 2.84. Champion Iron Ltd fell to 5-year lows after its 7.81% decline to 3.66.
Volatility and commodities
The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which gauges implied volatility in S&P/ASX 200 options, increased 2.59% to 11.68. In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery eased 0.13% or 5.40 to $4,030.90 a troy ounce. Oil prices rose: crude for September delivery gained 1.63% or 1.38 to $85.84 a barrel, while the October Brent contract climbed 1.56% or 1.37 to trade at $89.46 a barrel.
Foreign exchange and dollar metrics
On the currency front, AUD/USD was unchanged 0.27% at 0.69, and AUD/JPY inched up 0.04% to 113.69. The US Dollar Index Futures rose 0.13% to 100.86.
