Notable milestones - Shares of Piraeus Bank SA moved to five-year highs, with the stock rising 2.81% to 10.80. Optima bank SA recorded an all-time high, advancing 2.66% to 13.10.

Commodities and currencies - In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.31% or 13.85 to $4,421.15 a troy ounce. Energy prices were lower: Crude oil for October delivery fell 3.36% or 3.44 to $99.04 a barrel, while the November Brent contract declined 2.98% or 3.21 to trade at $104.42 a barrel.

Currency movements were muted. EUR/USD was effectively unchanged, moving 0.03% to 1.16, while EUR/GBP was unchanged, moving 0.02% to 0.86. The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.03% at 99.01.

This session’s action left Greek equities at stronger levels on balance, with select banks and industrial names among the day's primary contributors to the advance, while a handful of property and healthcare stocks weighed on the market's performance.
