Closing performance - At the market close in Athens the Athens General Composite was down 0.18%.
Top performers - Among the best-performing listings on the Athens General Composite were Ilyda SA Class R (AT:ILYr), which climbed 8.61% or 0.35 points to finish at 4.48. Alter Ego Media SA (AT:AEMr) rose 5.79% or 0.34 points to close at 6.21, and ADACOM SA (AT:IDEr) gained 4.24% or 0.25 points to end the session at 6.15.
Lagging names - On the downside, Bank of Cyprus Holdings PLC (AT:BOCHGRr) fell 2.75% or 0.30 points to 10.59 at the close. Thessaloniki Port Authority SA (AT:OLTr) lost 2.56% or 1.00 point to finish at 38.00, and Hellenic Telecommunications Organization SA (AT:OTEr) declined 2.36% or 0.48 points to end at 19.84.
Market breadth - Declining issues outnumbered advancing ones on the Athens Stock Exchange by 63 to 47, while 24 shares finished unchanged, indicating broader downside participation despite the headline index move being modest.
Commodities and energy - In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery posted a notable rise, up 3.71% or 154.15 to $4,306.75 a troy ounce. Crude oil for September delivery fell 0.82% or 0.62 to $75.15 a barrel, while the October Brent contract slipped 0.45% or 0.36 to trade at $79.00 a barrel.
Foreign exchange and dollar - On currency moves, EUR/USD was unchanged 0.16% to 1.15, and EUR/GBP was unchanged 0.07% to 0.86. US Dollar Index futures were lower, down 0.19% at 99.55.
The session combined selective upside among smaller-cap names with broader selling in several cyclical and utility-related sectors. Commodity and FX shifts added context to market activity, with a strong move higher in gold contrasting with softer oil and a slightly weaker dollar.
