Andritz shares rallied sharply on the back of first-half 2026 results that outperformed forecasts across the board, lifting the stock to €80.10 in intraday trade - a gain of nearly 8.0%.
Financial performance and orders
The Graz-based industrial technology group reported H1 order intake of €5.9 billion, a rise of 25.2% compared with the first half of 2025. Management said the order backlog reached a record €12,602 million, up 20.5% versus year-end 2025. Consolidated revenue for the period increased by 5.2%, while the comparable EBITA margin improved to 8.6% from 8.3% a year earlier.
At the quarterly level, Andritz delivered roughly €2.05 billion of revenue in Q2, with an expanded EBITA margin of 8.9%. Q2 order intake was reported at €2.3 billion, which the company said arrived approximately 20% above analyst projections.
Guidance and analyst context
Andritz reiterated its full-year 2026 guidance, forecasting a return to revenue growth in the range of €8.0 billion to €8.3 billion. The company expects its comparable EBITA margin to remain at a high level between 8.7% and 9.1%. The reaffirmation of guidance removed a notable overhang on the shares, after the stock had fallen beneath its 50-day moving average two sessions earlier.
Analyst coverage remains broadly constructive. The average 12-month analyst price target sits at €84.50, with five analysts recommending a buy and none recommending a sell.
Market reaction and technicals
Market conditions provided a supportive backdrop for the share-price move. U.S. equities traded modestly higher during the session, with the S&P 500 gaining 0.35% and the Nasdaq adding 0.55%, contributing to a general risk-on tone that amplified Andritz’s stock-specific rally.
Andritz’s share price has recorded a dramatic run since its initial public offering, increasing by about 2,900% and reaching an all-time high in 2026. During the session, the intraday high of €80.60 brought the stock within a whisker of its 52-week peak of €80.70.
Drivers within the business
The Hydropower division stood out as a particularly strong contributor, with order growth in that segment running at an exceptional pace through the first half of the year. The record backlog highlighted by the company was cited as evidence of revenue visibility in the quarters ahead.
Why the move was notable
Investors responded to a combination of factors: a pre-market earnings release that beat on revenue, margins and, most critically, order intake by a wide margin; the reaffirmation of full-year guidance; and a constructive global risk environment. Together these elements produced one of Andritz’s largest single-session gains in recent memory and gave market participants a reason to re-evaluate the stock closer to analyst consensus targets.
While the company’s reported metrics and the newly established backlog underpin visibility for future revenues, the share-price reaction was also influenced by short-term technical and market dynamics.
