CoinMarketCap has launched seven new real-world asset (RWA) endpoints on its Pro API, enabling developers to access tokenized versions of traditional financial instruments through a single, stable-identifier-based data workflow. The endpoints cover tokenized equities, commodities, currencies, government securities, exchange-traded funds and real estate, and include metadata, pricing, market pairs and issuer information. Core RWA endpoints are available on the free Basic plan and above, and the rollout coincided with a developer guide published for SpaceX's public listing that demonstrates retrieving a tokenized stock via the new endpoints.

CoinMarketCap has expanded its Pro API to include a dedicated suite of seven real-world asset (RWA) endpoints, offering developers a single programmatic source for information on tokenized versions of traditional financial instruments. The newly introduced endpoints cover tokenized equities, commodities, currencies, government securities, exchange-traded funds (ETFs) and real estate, and are available immediately.

The RWA endpoints are designed to identify each asset with a stable identifier and to span the full lifecycle of data for tokenized instruments. CoinMarketCap said the suite includes an ID map and a metadata endpoint that return descriptive and company-related information. Separate asset-list and quotes endpoints provide aggregated tokenized price, market capitalization and 24-hour volume figures. Additional market-pairs and issuer endpoints reveal the underlying on-chain tokens, the markets where they trade and the issuers responsible for those tokens.

According to the company, the core RWA endpoints are accessible to users on CoinMarketCap's free Basic plan and higher tiers.

The launch of the RWA endpoints coincided with a notable market development. When SpaceX completed its public listing, CoinMarketCap published an RWA developer guide demonstrating how to use the new endpoints to retrieve data on the company’s tokenized stock. The guide connects a major traditional-finance event to on-chain data through the same API workflow.

CoinMarketCap positioned the RWA rollout as an extension of an already extensive API portfolio. The Pro API, under a single integration and credit system, already supplies real-time and historical crypto prices as well as data on centralized exchanges, decentralized exchanges (DEXs), derivatives and liquidations. It also includes proprietary indices such as the CoinMarketCap Fear & Greed Index and CMC20, plus real-time WebSocket streaming.

The platform continues to offer agent-native access through a hosted MCP server and pay-per-call x402 support. CoinMarketCap also provides a Keyless Public API, which permits calls to a curated set of endpoints without requiring an account or API key.

In announcing the expansion, the company reiterated a focus on consolidating data sources for developers. "Developers should not have to stitch together a dozen providers to build a serious crypto product," said Rush, CEO of CoinMarketCap. "By bringing tokenized real-world assets into the same API that already covers spot, derivatives, DEX, and our own market indices, we give builders one dependable source of truth. Our goal is simple: to be the first and last data API a team needs."

The introduction of RWA endpoints follows CoinMarketCap’s recent certification under ISO/IEC 27001 and ISO/IEC 27701. These certifications, independently assessed by BSI, cover information security and privacy management across the platform and API.

Risks

  • The announcement does not specify the full coverage or limits of supported tokenized instruments, leaving uncertainty about which specific assets are included.
  • Details on performance guarantees, service-level commitments or throughput for the new RWA endpoints are not provided in the release.
  • Relying on a single provider for consolidated RWA data may create dependency considerations for developers, but the company does not address potential vendor risk in the announcement.
