Lianyou Metals Co Ltd (TW:7610) slipped 6.27% - down 100.00 points - to 1,495.00, and Top Bright Holding Co Ltd (TW:8499) fell 6.23% or 18.00 points to finish at 271.00.

Market breadth was tilted toward losers on the Taiwan Stock Exchange, where declining issues outnumbered advancing ones by 629 to 377; an additional 116 stocks ended unchanged.


Market benchmarks and commodities

Energy and precious metals prices moved lower in overseas trading. Crude oil for October delivery decreased 0.41% or 0.34 to $83.19 a barrel. Brent oil for November delivery was down 0.24% or 0.21 to $88.31 a barrel. The December Gold Futures contract fell 0.74% or 34.69 to trade at $4,629.31 a troy ounce.

Currency and dollar gauge

On the FX front, USD/TWD eased 0.20% to 31.62. The TWD/CNY measure was reported unchanged 0.28% to 0.21. The US Dollar Index Futures recorded a modest gain of 0.04%, trading at 99.13.
