Luxury house Hermes International SCA (EPA:HRMS) added 3.44%, advancing 54.00 points to end at 1,624.50. Financials also contributed to the upside, with Societe Generale SA (EPA:SOGN) rising 2.68% or 1.91 points to close at 73.21.

On the downside, Thales (EPA:TCFP) fell 2.95%, slipping 6.90 points to 226.80 at the close. Capgemini SE (EPA:CAPP) retreated 2.09%, or 1.90 points, to 89.00, while Danone SA (EPA:DANO) dropped 1.04% or 0.76 points to 72.42.

SBF 120 movers

Within the SBF 120, STMicroelectronics again led gains, rising 7.16% to 62.68. X Fab Silicon Foundries EV (EPA:XFAB) climbed 5.90% to settle at 7.99 and Soitec SA (EPA:SOIT) added 5.86% to close at 104.10. The weakest performers on the SBF 120 included SEB SA (EPA:SEBF), which declined 3.83% to 46.66, Thales at a 2.95% loss to 226.80, and Dassault Aviation SA (EPA:AM), which fell 2.56% to 289.60.

Market breadth and volatility

Advancing issues outnumbered decliners on the Paris Stock Exchange, with 245 stocks rising compared with 211 falling, and 95 shares finishing unchanged. The CAC 40 VIX, which gauges implied volatility for CAC 40 options, was unchanged at 18.96, marking a new 52-week high.

Commodities and currencies

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery were reported up 1.31% or 53.47 to $4,135.87 a troy ounce. Crude oil for August delivery fell 2.00% or 1.47 to $72.05 a barrel, while the September Brent contract declined 1.99% or 1.55 to trade at $76.47 a barrel.

On the currency front, EUR/USD was essentially unchanged at 1.14, moving 0.20%, and EUR/GBP was steady at 0.85, up 0.01%. The US Dollar Index Futures eased 0.09% to 100.67.
