Regional breakdown

Mazda's results differed across North America. In Canada, May sales totaled 6,281 vehicles, a 21% decline versus the prior-year period. Year-to-date Canadian deliveries stood at 27,551 units, down 16.1% compared with the same period in 2025.

Context and takeaways

The May results present a clear monthly rebound in volumes for Mazda North America, with marked gains on a daily selling rate basis once the shorter selling calendar is accounted for. At the same time, cumulative year-to-date figures remain lower, reflecting weaker earlier months that the May improvement has not fully offset.

Certified pre-owned activity also increased, signaling strength in used-vehicle turnover for the month.

Details above were provided by Mazda North American Operations in its May sales release.

Risks

  • Year-to-date volumes remain below last year - ongoing weaker cumulative demand could weigh on North American manufacturing and supply chain utilization.
  • Shorter selling calendar in May (26 selling days versus 27) changes the comparison base - single-month gains may not fully reflect sustained recovery across the period.
