On the downside, Nokia Oyj (HE:NOKIA) was the weakest large-cap name, slipping 3.17% or 0.35 points to end the session at 10.85. Orion Oyj B (HE:ORNBV) declined 1.70%, down 1.20 points to 69.35, and Tieto Oyj (HE:TIETO) fell 0.62%, a decrease of 0.11 points, to close at 17.67.

Market breadth on the Helsinki Stock Exchange favored advancing issues, with 95 stocks higher versus 73 that fell; 26 shares finished unchanged.

Nokian Renkaat reached three-year highs during the session, closing at 13.20 following the 2.40% gain noted above.


Commodities and FX

Commodity markets were softer at the close. Brent oil for September delivery eased 0.97%, down 0.74 to $75.56 a barrel. U.S. crude for August delivery fell 1.42%, a decline of 1.02, to $71.06 a barrel. The August Gold Futures contract lost 0.45%, or 18.80, to settle at $4,122.00 a troy ounce.

In currency trading, EUR/USD was effectively unchanged at 1.14, moving 0.07%. EUR/GBP was also effectively unchanged, shifting 0.04% to 0.85. The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.13% at 100.56.
