Finnish equities finished the trading day in positive territory on Thursday, with sector gains in Consumer Services, Telecoms and Technology supporting a modest advance in the broader market.
At the close in Helsinki, the OMX Helsinki 25 increased 0.10%, reaching a new one-month high. The index’s rise reflected a patchwork of individual stock performances rather than broad-based strength.
The session’s top mover on the OMX Helsinki 25 was Qt Group Oyj (HE:QTCOM), which climbed 4.99% - equal to a 1.76 point gain - to finish at 37.02. Other notable advancers included Nokia Oyj (HE:NOKIA), up 2.06% or 0.18 points to end at 9.00, and Tieto Oyj (HE:TIETO), which added 1.97% or 0.38 points to close at 19.67.
On the downside, Nokian Renkaat Oyj (HE:TYRES) registered the largest decline among the listed names, slipping 2.96% or 0.49 points to 16.07 at the close. Neste Oyj (HE:NESTE) fell 1.35% or 0.43 points to 31.34, and Elisa Oyj (HE:ELISA) declined 1.32% or 0.48 points to finish at 35.78.
Market breadth on the Helsinki exchange was narrowly positive: 93 stocks advanced, 80 declined and 21 remained unchanged.
Commodities and currency markets showed relatively muted moves during the session. Brent oil for November delivery rose 0.71% or 0.62 to $87.56 a barrel. U.S. crude for October delivery increased 0.51% or 0.42 to $82.65 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract gained 0.24% or 11.09 to trade at $4,664.39 a troy ounce.
FX pairs were essentially flat: EUR/USD was unchanged at 1.17 and EUR/GBP held steady at 0.86. The U.S. Dollar Index Futures traded marginally lower, down 0.05% at 99.04.
This trading day underscored a market environment where specific large-cap moves, particularly in Technology and Telecoms, were sufficient to nudge the index higher despite losses in certain cyclical names. The session’s commodity and FX readings showed limited directional pressure on the market overall.
