Endesa's stock rose 1.9% to trade at €41.02 after the company published first-half 2026 results that outpaced analyst expectations on multiple fronts and raised its full-year earnings guidance.
Second-quarter net income was €755 million, approximately 17% above analyst consensus. Q2 EBITDA reached €1.6 billion, roughly 6% higher than forecasts. The company said those results were supported by a marked recovery in the supply business and robust conventional generation volumes totaling 15.8 TWh.
The supply division was a notable contributor to the upside. Q2 EBITDA for the supply business more than doubled year-on-year, rising to €443 million from €259 million in the same quarter of 2025. Integrated margins in the supply arm surpassed €56 per MWh during the period.
Regulated networks also played a significant role in the earnings mix. The networks segment added €1.2 billion to H1 EBITDA, a 24% increase versus the prior year, and now represents roughly half of the group's total EBITDA. That shift toward a larger regulated-income share has been observed by investors as increasing earnings predictability.
Shareholder returns provided additional technical support to the stock. The company has an active €500 million share buyback tranche that was launched earlier this month.
Market context for the move was mixed. Broader market indices were under pressure, with the IBEX 35 edging lower amid geopolitical concerns tied to Iran and a Federal Reserve policy meeting described as carrying an "unusual level of uncertainty." Within the domestic utilities sector, peers showed more muted results: Redeia recorded a modest 4% increase in H1 profit, highlighting how distinctly Endesa's numbers stood out on the day.
Taken together, the strong quarterly performance, guidance upgrade, accelerated growth in regulated earnings and ongoing buyback program provided investors with several reasons to push Endesa shares toward the stock's 52-week high of €41.49. The share price approached that level during the trading session despite the cautious macroeconomic backdrop.
Investors monitoring volume, price-mix and the balance between regulated and merchant earnings will likely view the combination of these reported metrics and actions as the immediate drivers behind the share price reaction.
