Arcadis NV updated its 2026 revenue expectations after posting organic net revenue growth of 2.2% year-over-year in the second quarter. The Netherlands-based sustainable design and engineering firm now anticipates low-single-digit organic net revenue growth for 2026.
Operational profitability in the quarter saw a modest uptick, with operating EBITA margin at 11.4%, compared with 11.3% in the same quarter last year. The company kept its 2026 operating EBITA margin guidance unchanged at a range of 11.7% to 12.0%.
Order intake strengthened markedly in the period, increasing 13.5% organically to reach €1.1 billion. Management said that the stronger intake produced a record backlog for the business.
Revenue expansion in the quarter was led by the Resilience and Mobility segments. Resilience benefited from projects including US water infrastructure work, UK AMP8 initiatives and German grid expansion activity. Mobility growth was supported by rail and highway projects across North America and Europe.
Conversely, the Places segment experienced declines, reflecting continued weakness in the Property & Investment business in Canada and China. That decline was partially offset by demand from data center and pharmaceutical clients within the segment.
Management attributed the improvement in operating EBITA margin to changes in portfolio mix, efficiency gains and rightsizing measures implemented across the business.
Looking beyond 2026, Arcadis outlined medium-term targets: it has set a goal of mid-single-digit organic net revenue growth for the 2027 through 2029 period and is aiming for an operating EBITDA margin in the mid- to high-teens by 2029.
