In the southeastern Zaporizhzhia region, Governor Ivan Fedorov reported that Russian strikes killed one person and wounded three others on Sunday morning. In the northeastern Kharkiv region, Governor Oleh Syniehubov said drone attacks on the regional capital and nearby settlements wounded eight people, among them two children.
The southern Kherson region also saw harm to civilians, with regional Governor Oleksandr Prokudin reporting that Russian drone and artillery strikes since early Saturday had wounded seven people, including a child. In the southeastern Dnipropetrovsk region, regional head Oleksandr Hanzha said a child was wounded and infrastructure sustained damage in Russian attacks.
Kyiv's air force provided an operational assessment of aerial activity overnight, reporting that Russia had launched 27 long-range drones - a lower figure than is typical - and that Ukraine's air defences had downed all of them.
In a morning briefing, Ukraine's General Staff counted 147 clashes along the front line during the last 24-hour period. The tally underscores ongoing fighting even as a ceasefire declared by both capitals was meant to take effect.
Ukrainian officials have not publicly addressed any specific violations of the U.S.-brokered truce. The ceasefire was also intended to include a mutual exchange of prisoners of war - a swap of 1,000 detainees from each side.
Earlier in the week, each side announced separate temporary ceasefires - one starting on Friday and another on Wednesday - but both Moscow and Kyiv quickly accused one another of breaking those pauses.
