Market reaction and context
Navitas Semiconductor (NASDAQ:NVTS) shares rose 18% on Monday following the launch by partner Cyient Semiconductors of what Cyient described as India’s first commercial family of gallium nitride (GaN) power integrated circuits using Navitas technology. The announcement centers on a seven-device lineup, each rated to 650V, intended for the Indian market.
Product and market focus
Cyient Semiconductors said the new GaN portfolio addresses demand for higher-efficiency power solutions across a range of sectors. The company identified target applications that include edge AI computing, e-mobility, AI data centers, telecommunications power systems, consumer fast charging, and industrial power supplies. The offering is presented as Cyient’s first commercial GaN product family and is framed as a milestone in the development of India’s domestic power semiconductor ecosystem.
Partnership terms and supply role
Under the agreement established in December 2025, Cyient Semiconductors will license Navitas’s GaN technology for use within India. The arrangement also designates Cyient as a second source for select Navitas GaN devices that are already in mass production, providing customers in India with local support and supply assurance, according to the companies.
Technical characteristics and packaging
The companies highlighted GaN power semiconductors’ performance advantages over traditional silicon devices, citing higher switching speeds, lower conduction losses, and improved thermal efficiency. Cyient’s initial lineup concentrates on power applications up to 650V, with explicit examples including consumer USB-PD chargers, laptop and mobile adapters, AC-DC power supplies, AI data center and telecommunications power systems, and e-mobility charging platforms.
The first wave of offerings comprises seven integrated GaN power devices delivered in DPAK packages. Each device combines drive, control, and protection functions and incorporates integrated EMI management and current sensing.
Executive remarks and timing
Chris Allexandre, President and CEO of Navitas Semiconductor, said, "India is a key market in Navitas’s high growth, high power strategy with Navitas 2.0. This launch furthers our vision of a robust local supply chain and manufacturing in India for the governments ’Make in India’ initiatives."
Cyient Semiconductors indicated it expects to begin sampling the first set of GaN power products by June 2026.
Key points
- Navitas stock jumped 18% after Cyient launched a seven-device GaN power IC family for India using Navitas technology.
- The 650V-rated devices target edge AI, e-mobility, data center, telecoms, consumer fast charging, and industrial power applications.
- Under a December 2025 agreement, Cyient will license Navitas’s GaN tech for India and act as a second source for select mass-produced Navitas parts, with sampling expected by June 2026.
Risks and uncertainties
- Timing risk - Cyient’s plan to begin sampling by June 2026 is an expected timeline and could be subject to change.
- Supply and commercialization risk - Cyient is positioned as a second source for select Navitas devices; the effectiveness of local supply assurance and commercial uptake in India remains to be demonstrated.
- Market adoption risk - Demand across the listed target sectors (edge AI, e-mobility, data centers, telecoms, consumer fast charging, industrial power) will determine the commercial success of the new GaN portfolio.
